Milk Carton Tote Tutorial Plus a Few More Totes

This little milk carton tote was a work in progress, I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. I thought I would provide you with a little tutorial in case you wanted to copy it.

1. This is the die cut I used to make the milk cartons, I got it from Stampin' Up. The papers needed to cut each milk carton out measure 5.75 x 7.5". You will need two, one for each carton. Place the paper on the top of the die cut and using your clear acrylic cutting pads run it through your Big Shot or other die cutting machine.

2. Before folding on the score lines use a stamp wheel of your choice and ink it up, I used Basic Black ink and the Very Vintage jumbo wheel. Roll the wheel over the center of the red cardstock, this will be the bulk of your carton that is showing. Repeat on the other carton, remember you are making two.

3. Fold on each of the score lines for both milk cartons.

4. Add adhesive to the inside of three of the bottom panels of the milk carton. Lining them up carefully, put the flap without adhesive in the center first and then one at a time adhere the other flaps to the make the bottom of the carton.

5. Apply adhesive to the side of the carton prior to gluing the bottom flaps together, it is easier to add now rather then when your box bottom is assembled.

6. Peel off adhesive backing and adhere the sides of the cartons together.

7. Work with the top of the carton until you get these folds to move comfortably without buckling any of the sides.

8. Cut two pieces of coordinating cardstock (I used black) measuring 2.75 x 2.75". Score 1/2" in on each side. Cut the corner flaps in on direction. Repeat this step on the opposite side of the square. Apply adhesive to the four corners. Fold the cardstock on the score lines. (Sorry for the black and white pics, changed the settings and didn't realize I hadn't changed them back until it was too late! :) )

9. Put the flaps on the inside of the box and peel of the backing to adhere into a box bottom. Repeat for the second box bottom.

10. Cut a strip of black cardstock measuring 1.75 x 8.5" long, score it at 4.25". Cut a piece of patterned paper measuring 1.5 x 8" long, score at 4". Fold your patterned paper in half and on the scored edge using a 3/4" punch (for finger handle) push it about 1/2-3/4" down from the score line. Make sure it is centered from the edges and punch out. When you open it up it will have a hole on both sides of the score line. Lining up your score lines with both the patterned paper and the black cardstock, use a pencil and trace the hole onto the cardstock on one side only. Remove the patterned paper, fold the cardstock and punch out where the circle is traced. The reason for doing this is to line up your holes and the punch has difficulty going through 4 layers of paper. Starting at the center, put adhesive onto the back of the patterned paper and adhere to the black cardstock. Once that is secure adhere the rest of the patterned paper to the black cardstock.

11. Take a small adhesive and place it on the back along the bottom of both sides of the handle. Add it to the back of each box.

12. Place adhesive to the rest of the handle so it will stick to itself. In the below pic this is done and both the cartons are placed inside the boxes. (Whew, caught onto the b&w setting on the camera and switched it back to color!)

13. Cut a strip of cardstock measuring 1.75 x 12". Punch out with a border punch of your choice, I used a Martha Stewart punch here, so don't remember the name. After it is all punched out, trim the width down to 1 3/8". Adhere to the carton tote starting in the middle of the long side, line it up with the handle. I used Sookwang 1/2" tape (great stickability) and applied it directly to the tote about 1/4" up from the bottom. Then carefully wrap the punched border around the tote one side at a time.

Here's a pic of it without the cartons in it.

14. Punch out 2 scallop circles (mine measure 1.75" across) from black cardstock, score down the middle of each. I used Gold Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink to detail the edges of the scallops.

15. Fold the scallop in half on the score line, punch a 1/8" hole out of it. Then line it up over the carton, draw the circle with a pencil to line up the holes. Remove the scallop and punch a hole through the top of the carton with a 1/8" hole punch.

16. Insert a brad in each carton through the scallop.

17. Adhere your colored image to the front of your carton. I used Geisha Gillian from Prairie Fairy Designs.

18. I used Crystal Effects and covered the edge of the punched border with a glittery gold ribbon. I overlapped the ribbon at the same spot my bordered edge over laps. I then added red Glitter Candy Dots to the big holes on the border punch.

19. I added the Smooth Accent Ink to the edges of the border punch. And you have a finished box.

I have made a couple of other boxes with different colors, images, borders, accents.

Anything But a Card MW Post at FFF

Hi again, just popping in with a little something that I hope inspires you to make your own project and enter it into our Fairy Fun Fridays challenge this time around. The challenge is Anything But a Card and the team has really outdone themselves.

I made a candy, or tea bag or condiment holder, use it in whichever way you would choose. The Prairie Fairy Designs image I used is called Geisha Gillian and definitely was a challenge to color as it isn't even 2 1/2" tall! I will post a tutorial in a day or two to show you how I created this simple little gift box.

Acetate Grad Box Tutorial

Well here goes my first detailed tutorial, excuse the lighting and angles, I am still working on balancing my camera with one hand and showing the best angle of the descriptive photo with the other. Not terribly coordinated!

Tools Needed:

Transparency 5.5 x 10.5"

Cardstock (I used SU Night of Navy)

Patterned Paper

Paper piercer and soft mat

Brad

Embroidery thread and cardboard 2.5 x 4"

Border punch

Oval Nestability

Ribbon

Strong Adhesive (I used Sookwang, Sticky Strip would work as well)

ScorPal (or something similar)

Owl charm

1. Take your 5.5 x 10.5 piece of transparency and score it several times (makes it easier to see) at 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10". Fold on the scored lines to sharpen the edges.

2. Add adhesive on the 1/2" flap on the inside of the fold and at the bottom of each creased area on the outside of the to be box. This allows the acetate to adhere to the bottom of the box easier. Take the tape of the short side of the box and adhere it to the inside of the opposite end of the transparency.

3. Cut a piece of cardstock 3.5 x 3.5" and score 1/2" in on all sides.

4. Cut in on the ends where it is scored up to the next score line. Make sure your cuts are all going in the same direction. Add adhesive to the flaps. When adhering the flaps to the opposite wall make sure your flaps sit securely on the inside of the flap. This gives a more finished look.

5. Your finished bottom of the box.

6. Remove the adhesive from the bottom of the acetate box and gently squish the sides together. Lower it into the box bottom, press against each side of the bottom of the box to secure.

7. Cut a piece of 2 x 10.5" patterned paper. Run the one edge through a border punch making sure to line up your edges so it gives a sharp, clear finish. Score 1/2" in on the one short end and place adhesive in on the back. I tried scoring at each corner and I wouldn't do it again.

8.Adhere the 1/2" fold to the same spot where the box joins a little above the bottom of the box so that your cardstock shows a little. Take off the next sides tape paper and continue to wrap around the box. Do each side as you go, your final edge will overlap your initial piece adhered to the acetate.

9. Measure out 2 pieces of ribbon about 11" long. I added 1/4" Sookwang directly to the back of my ribbon to make it easier to adhere to the box. I started my ribbon where my bow will be to later on to cover the seam. Space your ribbons in a way that is pleasing to you.

10. Color, cut and adhere your image, I used Graduation Gilly from Prairie Fairy Designs.

11. For the box lid you don't want it as tight as the box bottom, so I made it 1/4" bigger all the way around. So cut a piece 3.75" x 3.75", and repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 to assemble your box. Take a strip of patterned paper measuring 1.5" x 12" and punch a border around it. Add adhesive to your box top and adhere the patterned paper.

12. Take an oval die cut, I used Spellbinders and line it up on a piece of cardstock measuring 2 7/8" in length leaving a small edge on each side and when cut will remove about 1/3 of the cardstock. Repeat 3 more times, these will make the head form of the mortarboard hat.

13. One you have cut all 4 pieces of cardstock with the oval die cut, trim each piece to a 1" width on the longest edges. Adhere them to the lid of the box at the very top edges of the lid covering the patterned paper.

14. Take two small pieces of ribbon that coordinate with your ribbon, about 2-3" long. Adhere one end of the piece to the opposite end to make a circle (i.e. in my sample navy adheres to itself). Then wrap another piece of adhesive backed ribbon around the loop to make the center of the bow (start and end at the back of the loop for a finished look). Having the adhesive on the back of the center part of the bow makes it easy to handle and holds your loop bow securely. Add one more small piece of adhesive to the back of the loop and secure where your ribbon ends on your box to cover the seam.

15. To make the tassel for the mortarboard cap, cut a piece of cardboard 4" by 2 1/2". On the long side of the cardboard (4") cut 2 slits in the middle of the strip, each about 1/2" deep and about 1" apart. These slits will secure your thread ends for making your tassel. Leave a good sized tail length so that it will become part of the tassel. Make sure you have a full skein or almost full skein of embroidery thread as it takes a lot to make the tassel. Wrap the thread around the cardboard between the slits 40 times. Slip the other end through the opposite slit with a long tail and cut the thread.

16. Take a 10" strip of embroidery thread and tie a taut knot at the top of the wrapped thread. If you cannot get it taut enough, tie it once and tie it again once the threads are cut.

17. With sharp scissors cut the wrapped thread at the opposite end of the cardboard from where it is tied. This will be where you would secure your knot tighter if you only tied it once in step 16.

18. With your hand push all of the tassel thread together. Take another 10" piece of embroidery thread and wrap it around the head of the tassel, tie a knot. After your initial knot around the head of the tassel I tied the owl charm and wrapped the thread around the head of the tassel several more times. Tie a knot to secure and mix the remaining thread in with the tassel. Trim off excess length from the tie so that they are the same length as the tassel.

19. Take the threads at the top of the tassel and tie them into a knot leaving a long loop, I gauged the length of the loop by where I wanted it to hang on the cap.

20. Cut a piece of cardstock 3.75" x 3.75". With a ruler and a pencil, line up the ruler at opposite corners and draw a faint line in pencil. Repeat this step with the opposite corners. The center of your X is the center of your cap. With a piercing tool and a soft mat poke a hole through the center of the paper.

21. Push a brad through the hole on the unmarked side of the cap, slip the tassel loop under the brad head. I would have used a larger brad but I didn't have one that matched the color. Spread the posts of the brad under the cap to secure.

22. Place double sided adhesive to the top of the mortarboard cap near the brad, make sure it doesn't go outside of what the box lid will cover. With the mortarboard cap upside down center the box lid over the adhesive leaving all the edges equal around the cap. Place the lid onto the box.

23. Your box is now complete and ready for you to fill with whatever pleases the recipient. Have fun!

Altered Acetate Box for FFF challenge

This little box was a labor of love as our third daughter graduates the end of March from high school (homeschooled) and will soon be determining when to move on with the next phase of her life. We are very proud of her and this is one way I thought of to let her know how much. I will be posting a tutorial later today showing how I made this box as I took the instructions from Splitcoast Stampers and altered them for what I needed, plus I turned the top into a mortarboard to complete the look.

Well I hope everyone had a good Christmas with family and friends and is ready to embrace the New Year. If today is part of it we got 3 inches of snow and although it isn't super cold, it does make for interesting driving. I colored this image Sugar Plum Fairies before Christmas and tried it on at least 4 projects before I settled with this card. Angel Tree Topper

This week at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is to make something for Christmas without using the traditional colors of red or green. I chose to use the image Sitting Pretty from Prairie Fairy Designs, colored her with Copic Markers and used Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the wings. I cut out around her arms and added her to a cone shaped paper that I had stamped and heat embossed. Before adding my image I added lace and ribbon at the bottom of the skirt. Once the Sitting Pretty image was on the skirt, I added a bow to the back of the dress and flowers and pearl strands to the front to complete it. Now who wouldn't want to have this on the top of their tree?

Mistletoe Kisses and Gilly's Carolling are the two images from Prairie Fairy Designs that I used on this paper lantern for the challenge at Fairy Fun Fridays this week. Join us this week as the challenge is 'Beat the Winter Blues' inspired by a picture our Fairy Princess Corry came up with. I was inspired to make this paper lantern from Norma, check out her website to find out how to make your own lantern.

I changed the measurement on the box at the bottom of the lid to make it simpler to fit in the lantern by reducing each side on the fold by 1/8". I crimped the shingles on the roof and added Liquid Pearls and Stickles to give the appearance of snow and ice. Hope you like it!

This week the challenge at Fairy Fun Fridays is "No Black Lines". You may ask what do you mean "No Black Lines", simply that, you must either stamp your image with a pale colored ink or washout the digital image as described on the Fairy Fun Fridays site. For this card I used 'Spring Ducks' I know a peculiar choice for this time of year but it worked for this baby girl card that I made. I used lace to frame the card, the sentiment is a die cut, some mauve floral roses and a triple bow. Still trying to master the Bow Easy. You can enter this challenge and have the opportunity to win fantastic images from Prairie Fairy Designs just by trying this technique. This week at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is Wet Embossing, in my card for the DT I created tire treads to go with my Harley Boy image from Prairie Fairy Designs. I punched out small rectangles that resembled tire treads out of a scrap piece of cardstock, then laid it over my DP and inked the empty spaces with Versamark. Removing my mask I then added black EP and heated it up to give this effect.

This week at Fairy Fun Fridays the theme is Sugar and Spice, so anything girly. I have merged the two images called Villa Road and Gilly's Bike created by the Fairy Queen at Prairie Fairy Designs. I used the technique shown here to create this scene. I started coloring this image wanting an Italian countryside, but after coloring the building it took more of a Mexican feel with the adobe.

So I put one together for this week, I did Cowgirl Gilly in three layers and decoupaged her for dimension. Distressed my papers and stitched with hemp to continue with the cowgirl theme. I taught a class last week with 4 different cards, I will be posting one card each day. I used the Sizzix daisy die cut, a leaf die cut, the Sizzix top note die cut, a tag die cut and a daisy punch. Using the mat pack, an empressor, a stylus and the palm of my hand I shaped these flowers. I tried it several different ways and found the most effective way to be the one where you build from the center out.

These doodad holders were inspired by Lisa Young, I took her idea and adapted as I needed. I have made 10 of them with 2 more to go. The flowers were inspired by Tammy Howell, I just love making paper flowers and there are so many different ones to make.

Inside of box, you can put paper clips, buttons, etc. in here and keep them compartamentalized.

I also did a Christmas card front swap, made 20 of these. Used the Smooch Spritz for the shiny look on the flowers as well as Smooch Accent Ink for the poinsettia dots in the centre.

This week I used Fireman Lewis (created by Prairie Fairy Designs) to make a birthday card for someone with a few too many candles. After two years of cross-stitching, quilting, sewing and lining I have finally finished my family's Christmas stockings for the second time in my life. I had completely different stockings and images many years ago for my family and the stockings became a treasured Christmas tradition in our home. In fact, several of our daughters say how opening their stocking is there favorite gift to open. Back to why I created six stockings again, we had an electrical fire in our home in March 2009 and it burned our home to the ground. We have made do with gift bags under the tree for the last two years but this year we will be able to enjoy our tradition again. Now to start stockings for the future son-in-laws ...

Hello, I know it has been an extremely long time since I have posted anything creative so I wanted to share with you our oldest daughter's birthday card. She turns 22 today and we celebrated the evening with her and most of our family last night. As usual the time with family is all too short and valued even more because of that.

I used the image Miss Anya Dressy from Greeting Farm for her card. Accessories include silk flowers, feathers, pearls, glitter candy dots, and a flocked deco border. My daughter's favorite color is red and her boyfriend's is blue so that is how the color combo happened.

My daughter went on a coloring frenzy, so I am using up those images. This is Miss Anya from Greeting Farm, she can be found in the Miss Anya Dressy Collection. I sponged color onto white flowers and added rhinestone brads to them.

Well summer is in full swing now. We received 2 1/2" of rain on Monday in two different bursts. Thankfully southwest Manitoba didn't get it and the water has crested with dikes holding in place. My family and friends don't have to evacuate.

Here in eastern Manitoba the weather is gorgeous outside of Monday's rain and I created another card. I used a Greeting Farm image from the Miss Anya Love Collection. The sentiment is a rub on.

I got the idea to make this card from Deneen's A Path for Paper blog. I wished when I saw her creation I knew there was a template, because I wong it on my own in putting this sandcastle together based on her picture. For my card I used three images from Prairie Fairy Designs called 'Lewis at the Beach', 'Gillian at the Beach' and 'Summer Fun'. Also instead of using pop dots for my layers I have started going back to my paper tole days and using silicone adhesive to add the layers. Of course, what would Lewis and Gillian be like without Crystal Effects on their glasses to give that coke bottle effect.

More Than One Fold Challenge

Inside is a bookmark that can be used as a gift. The books on the front are simply a clipart image that I colored in as it went with my theme.

The tip I am sharing for Top Tip Tuesday is when making an acetate card and wanting your card to look finished on both sides, make sure you trace out the front part of your design onto the piece that masks it behind the acetate prior to adhering the front part to your acetate. Trust me I have done it both ways and this suggestion is so much better.

Here Come the Girls Challenge at FFF

'Here Come the Girls' is the challenge over at Fairy Fun Fridays this week. I wanted to incorporate three different images and have chosen Cute Chicks, Cherub Gillian from the Valentine Gilly Set and Pretty Gillian. I also created a card able to use these images in a diverse way. I used transparencies and created folds on the sides to make it into a regular sized card. I did this for a Sisters theme as we have four daughters even though this card only shows three girls. If you would like these images go to Prairie Fairy Designs to get them. You also have the opportunity to win images by entering the challenges.

On the back of the right hand flap it states "No matter our interests ...

On the flap on the left side it states 'We all stick together.'

The title and poem are on the inside of the card. I am sure if any of you have sisters you can relate that you may be like black and white when it comes to your likes and dislikes, but you are there for each other when they need you. I am dedicating this to our four daughters.

Here's a view of the folds I made on the one side of the card. I made identical folds on the other side and joined the cards with the Marina Mist cardstock in the back that serviced as the sky for the card. I hope you like it.

Pirate Grub

On the 8th of April, our two youngest daughters caught to participate in a Teen Murder Mystery where the theme was pirates. So in keeping with my cake decorating I made one with a pirate.

Here are anchors on the corners of the cake.

My daughters and their friend playing their parts, the one on the left is their friend and plays a gold dealer, our youngest daughter is in the middle and she played a flirtatious serving wench and our third daughter on the right played a treasure hunter. They had a blast and can't wait for next year's murder mystery. As you can tell it takes place at the library where I work and we have the Prairie Queen's artwork that I get to enjoy everyday I work.

Farewell to a friend

So I signed up for an online course (Big Shot Brilliance) from Stampin' Up demonstrator Dawn Raspas and her crew and this card was made and altered by me from the original creation which I also made and will share with you later. I made this card for our daughter's birthday and as stated in a previous post she loves daisies and her favorite colors are yellow, turquoise and some oranges. With that in mind I altered the original pop up card. This class was created by Karen Burniston and she has some amazing pop up work, check out some of her you tube descriptions. You will use your dies in ways you never imagined after seeing her work.

Our daughter's 20th birthday

Well my classes are done for now, but the need for cakes remain! Our second daughter just celebrated her 20th birthday and I tried to depict her favorite things. Her childhood nickname from us is 'monkey' and she loves soccer, reading, movies and daisies. I was told I was unable to make daisies with buttercream icing that I needed royal icing but I thought I would give it a try. As there was little room for a greeting, the HB stands for Happy Birthday. Hope you like it!

Well we had our final cake decorating class for Beginners/Intermediate on Saturday. We worked on basketweave, cornelli lace and lilies of the valley. I added sunflowers, ferns, bead piping and writing to my fudge marble cake. I will add another cake for next week as my daughter is celebrating her 20th birthday.

Well our Saturday class was cancelled but my cake was made and the base layer of icing was on it so I made one with some instructions I got off the internet. I had trouble with a few things the scalloped border for one, as its weight made it keep falling off and I had to replace it several times. But here it is! I can't believe our last class is this Saturday for the beginner's session, can't wait to start the advanced, we will be working with royal icing, gel cakes (piping gel) and rolled fondant.

Well not quite a cake, but a creation none the less. I made these little yummies on Digestive Cookies, used the pattern transfer technique and made some Mario and Luigi's. These treats were for my kids' school. There are 14 students and every time they achieve 25 100's one of the parents brings a treat. This was my contribution.

At Fairy Fun Fridays this challenge is "It's My Party", I chose to do a card for a boy/man as I am running low on them and need to build up a collection yet again. I used the image "Space Alien" from Prairie Fairy Designs. I punched out a planet, sponged it and drew a few craters. I also added half pearls to the greeting to resemble the spaceship.

This week at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is Inspired by a Song. For this card I really played with three different images from Prairie Fairy Designs, Valentine Gillian Set (the drummer), Dr. Kinsley (Robert Palmer) and Gillian at the Beach for the guitarists and keyboard player. I altered their hair, clothes, no glasses or hat in my Photoshop Elements. I used the Addicted to Love video by Robert Palmer for inspiration and tried to make it as close as possible including the background. The instruments are clip art from online and the microphone and alterations are hand drawn. Hope you follow my weird sense of humour!

Make Your Own Flower

This week at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is to Make Your Own Flower, I chose to use a scallop flower punch, cut in on the petals and then shaped the flower. I then chose a three flower punch and added the middle layer and top layer in different colors to emulate a poppy. If you are wondering what I did to my image Watering Can to get the effect, I used UTEE on Basic Gray cardstock from Stampin' Up and it turned out this blue metallic look with a beat up look as the UTEE didn't go in all spots. I went over the lines of the image with a thin black marker. The poppies in the vase are colored and popped up 3 different times showing dimension, I left out the flowers in the background more with each layer. Candy Wrapper Challenge

This week at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is use a candy wrapper. Well I used gum wrappers, two different kinds one is the blue of the water in the background and the other is the embossed silver cobblestones. To accomplish this look you can use aluminum foil wrapped and taped around a piece/s of cardstock. Then run it through your embossing template of your choice. You must have the cardstock attached to the foil or the foil will crumble and you will not get the desired effect. In this case instead of aluminum foil I used gum wrappers. This image is from Prairie Fairy Designs and is called The Lighthouse.

This card uses the image RooCat in the Stocking from Prairie Fairy Designs. Although the colors are not typically Christmas colors I love how they work with the image, they also work for the Colour Q 53 Challenge. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday 123. I am also entering it into Sweet Stamping Challenge 46 - Punch It Out, where I used a corner rounder by the one sentiment, a tag punch and a scallop corner punch for the white embellishment near the bottom left corner of the card; the Anything Goes Challenge 19 - Christmas Has Come Early; and Pollycraft 64 - Anything Goes.

Hello, I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall we are having, the drive to work is a new canvas to enjoy everyday as the colors are constantly changing. This week at Fairy Fun Fridays we are doing a bit of a change up, the Design Teams swapped and we are presenting images from another company called Cowgirl Up, the image here is called L'il Bit. I colored the image with coloring pencils and blended them with a blending stump and baby oil for the soft look that you see. I used the sketch from Simon Says Stamp and the card also qualifies for the Digital Tuesday Challenge 77 - It's All About the Girls and Anything Goes Challenge 17 - Cute.

Midweek Reminder - FFF Challenge Embossing

Welcome to your Midweek reminder for the fortnight Fairy Fun Fridays challenge 35 of embossing. You still have time to enter your creation for a chance to win some fabulous images from Prairie Fairy Designs. This beautiful image Japanese Lanterns can be purchased from our own Prairie Fairy Queen at Prairie Fairy Designs.

I chose to do dry embossing for this card and used the Distressed EF from SU. I colored my images with watercolor crayons and blended the colors with a blending stump and baby oil. I layered the lanterns as well as shaped them to give a more 3D effect. I used the Embrace Life stamp set from SU to make my background and my lantern. I used a Faux Silk technique, where you stamp onto tissue paper, color in with a brush tip marker and then crumple it up and then spread it out. You adhere it to cardstock with a glue stick and receive a raw silk look to your paper. I tried to re-create the lanterns Queenie has so beautifully drawn by using a wide oval punch and trimming it. I did the Faux Silk technique on it as well as I thought it emulated the look of rice paper.

I used the sketch from Saturday Sketch 120. I am also entering this card at Stempel-Magie 19 - Autumn Colors; Allsorts Challenge 69 - Colours of Autumn and Anything Goes 16 - Oriental.

This groovy, far out chick comes from Greeting Farm's set Miss Anya Love, I used her in her way rad outfit to complete the sketch at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 67. As she is totally bedazzled out I completed the following challenges to match her The Pink Elephant 80 - ribbon and sparkles; Craftilicious 6 - pearls and swirls; Pollycraft 57 - in stitches (faux stitching around the edges of the Nestabilities oval scallop frame. Hope you dig it!!

I colored her twice and cut it out for more of a 3D effect. Her wings are aglitter with a touch of magic called Dazzling Diamonds. I used the sketch from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 65.

Paper Tea Light Roses

Well I had a brief visit with the Prairie Fairy Queen today and told her what I had been up to and she encouraged me to post this sooner than I had planned. Funny enough when the Prairie Fairy Queen enters out into her meadow, all the local fairies gather round, both Corry and Lori were near by as well. Imagine that!! :)

I found out how to make these gorgeous tea light paper roses from Kathy Braun. Aren't they absolutely beautiful. I made a third, but I need to redo parts of it as it was my first attempt and my petals don't curve as nice as these 2 specimens. I'll be teaching these in an upcoming workshop for you local crafters.

These have battery operated tea lights in the centre of the flower and are beautiful for centerpieces. Sorry about the picture quality on the second picture. My settings had been changed and I hadn't realized it until it was too late.

Hello everyone I hope you are all enjoying our last month of summer vacation, soon the kids will be back in school and we will be back in the race of running them to this and that. I so enjoy the summer and how I don't have to nag my children to do their homework or get up early for school. Even with it being summer, I am not finding as much time as I would like (maybe I should say focused time) to craft. I made this card to enter into the following challenges sketch - Card Patterns 75; Something Yummy - The Pink Elephant Challenge 78; and Go Dotty - Simon Says. Tooth Keeper

This week over at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is to make a 3D Project, so I turned this cute little tin I got while we were on vacation in Alberta at a candy store called Candy Bouquet in St. Albert. It is much like an altoid tin.

I turned it into this little tooth keeper, much prettier to hold the tooth/coin and much easier than disturbing your child while making the exchange. The tooth fairy does need our help now and again. The image I used for this project is called .... you guessed it Tooth Fairy and can be found at Prairie Fairy Designs.

Here is a close up showing that I printed the image a second time and layered it for a nice effect. I put matching paper on the bottom of the tin and a multi colored ribbon around the edge.

Just wanted to post a page I completed this week and hadn't had a chance to post yet. This is our second daughter with her high school graduation picture (last year, I am so far behind with my scrapbooking). Anywho I wanted to show at the workshop that I did on Monday that stamping isn't just for cards.

Off to the city today, for dr's appts., third daughter's written driver's test and a bunch of running around. Have a great day!!

Old Mother Hubbard

This week at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is to Lace it Up, come join us, we can't wait to see your talented entries. For the challenge this week I took the image Groovin' Granny from Prairie Fairy Designs and made her into Old Mother Hubbard, the remainder of the greeting on the inside of the card says "...you're another year older. Happy Birthday!!" I have lace curtains in the window as well even though they are more difficult to see than the boot laces.

I drew this boot out on scrap paper to create my template for the card.
