Learning Life with my Dad

The challenge over at Fairy Fun Fridays this week is For the Boys, now while this challenge design played out in my head in many different ways, I found a quote that I had to incorporate into this card.  So bear with me, as I explain it.  I wanted to make a card that showed a son following in his father's footsteps, but in a humorous manner because with these images can you really do anything else (especially with my warped sense of humour).  I used Lewis, Man o Man and Baby Dillan as my characters for this card and all of these delightful little nerds can be purchased at Prairie Fairy Designs.  Join in the fun and make a card for one of the fellas in your life and enter it into this week's challenge.

I created the sentiment on the front of the card "My Dad is my Inspiration .... He shares his secrets with me!!" to tie in with the whole father/son thing.  The sentiment on the inside of the card is by Jimmy Piersal, on How to Diaper a Baby.  "Spread the diaper in the position of the diamond with you at bat. Then, fold second base down to home and set the baby on the pitcher's mound. Put first base and third together, bring up home plate and pin the three together. Of course, in case of rain, you gotta call the game and start all over again."  I don't know about you but I killed myself laughing at a man's analogy of a diaper to a baseball field.  With that in mind I created my first ever spring card and turned it into a baseball field, with a dirt infield, bases and pitcher's mound.  I distressed the pitcher's mound and the dirt infield but it is difficult to tell.  I also popped up the soother, Baby Dillan's glasses and his feet.  All three men/boys have their glass lenses covered with Crystal Effects to give it a shiny effect.

I don't have any of the decorative bling most cards have, but it is for a guy, so I figure it's okay.  I am also entering this card into the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 59 - Babies/Children.  Hope you enjoy my card!!
