Midweek Reminder - FFF Challenge Embossing

Welcome to your Midweek reminder for the fortnight Fairy Fun Fridays challenge 35 of embossing.  You still have time to enter your creation for a chance to win some fabulous images from Prairie Fairy Designs.  This beautiful image Japanese Lanterns can be purchased from our own Prairie Fairy Queen at Prairie Fairy Designs.

I chose to do dry embossing for this card and used the Distressed EF from SU.  I colored my images with watercolor crayons and blended the colors with a blending stump and baby oil.  I layered the lanterns as well as shaped them to give a more 3D effect.  I used the Embrace Life stamp set from SU to make my background and my lantern.  I used a Faux Silk technique, where you stamp onto tissue paper, color in with a brush tip marker and then crumple it up and then spread it out.  You adhere it to cardstock with a glue stick and receive a raw silk look to your paper.  I tried to re-create the lanterns Queenie has so beautifully drawn by using a wide oval punch and trimming it.  I did the Faux Silk technique on it as well as I thought it emulated the look of rice paper.

I used the sketch from Saturday Sketch 120. I am also entering this card at Stempel-Magie 19 - Autumn Colors; Allsorts Challenge 69 - Colours of Autumn and Anything Goes 16 - Oriental.

Birthday Celebration

Sorry about the delay my computer has been really slow, I tried uploading this morning, but had to wait until after work.  Also, I can finally say I have completed my last course of my municipal administration university course.  I have to await marks and get info transferred from the University of Alberta to the University of Manitoba but after all of that I will receive my certificate.  Whew!!! I am so glad to have that done.

My youngest daughter's birthday is today and I made this card for her.  The image was a freebie awhile back from Karen's Doodles.  I tried to use the colors of the balloons throughout the entire card, it made for a very bright and cheery card.  The sketch is from Sketch Saturday Challenge 97

Stamps:  Bigsby - Karen's Doodles, Well Scripted - SU
Paper:  Orchid Opulence, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White and DSP
Ink:  Basic Black

His life for ours

Well after two frustrating days of terrible internet connection, I seem to finally be able to get on to the internet, comment on other blogs and upload my cards.  So sorry for the delay between cards. This is my second attempt at uploading this card.  The first time I went to publish it and it showed an error. Grrr!  I have been busily working on Easter cards as I like many will be with extended family this holiday weekend and of course, they will all need a card.  I am entering this card in the High Hopes Challenge 69 to use gems or pearls; the Sketch Saturday Challenge 96 and Your Next Stamp Challenge 13 to use purple.
