Proud to be Canadian

Finally, a card.  It feels like a very long time since I have made a card.  This one is to celebrate being Canadian.  Our country celebrates our independence on July 1st and although we are proud to be Canadian we aren't usually ones to put on a big show.  Unfortunately sometimes that translates to the fact that we aren't very patriotic.  Our oldest daughter leaves in August for a 2 month trip which includes Barbados, Europe and Greece.  One of the key things she keeps hearing is how to display that she is Canadian and that she will receive a warm welcome as one.  Sometimes other people need to remind us that Canadians are wonderful people.

My card is made to signify and celebrate all the wonderful Canadians I know.  Happy Canada Day everyone!!  I used the sketch challenge from Mojo Monday 145, the color challenge from Curtain Call Color Challenge 36 and although I followed a patriotic challenge at Cupcake Inspiration Challenge, I incorporated it as a patriotic Canadian card.

Baby Blues

This card is not traditional as it is blue and white but it will be given to someone with a little girl because of all the frills.  The card is entering in Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 48, it qualifies for Digital Tuesday Challenge - blue and white, Simon Says Stamp Challenge - for a child, Cupcake Inspiration Challenge 54 - I used brown for the hair of the child, the lace is on the outfit and the punched borders and the flowers are on the background paper.  This also works for Delightful Sketches Challenge - buttons and bling, my bling is the Stickles on the skirt ruffles and the Swaroski crystals.  Hope you like it!!

Stamps:  Peekaboo - Karen's Doodles
Paper:  Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue, Whisper White and SU DSP
Ink:  Brocade Blue
Accessories:  lace scallop border punch, sponge, ribbons, buttons, Waterfall Stickles, Swaroski crystals, copics, coloring pencils, blending stump and baby oil

Sooooo Cuuuute

I really had a lot of fun doing this easy card.  I hadn't colored directed to the stamp for a very long time, but I used the SU markers to color the strawberries and then stamped them.  I colored the focal image with pencil crayons, blending stump and baby oil.  The sketch is from Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge 35, the inspiration came from Cupcake Inspiration Challenge 48 - where I used strawberries, flowers and the colors pink, red and green, which also allows me to enter The Pink Elephant Challenge 56 - add green to the color combo.  I tried to finish it in time, but missed the cut off for the Color Throwdown Challenge 81.  With this bow above the center element I also qualify for Your Next Stamp Challenge 11 - Big Bow.

Stamps - Soooo Good - Phindy's Place, Sincere Salutations, Little Flowers and Tart & Tangy - SU
Ink - Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Real Red
Paper - Whisper White, Old Olive
Accessories - nestabilities, ribbon, post it for masking the greeting, sponge, pencil crayons, blending stump and baby oil

Wedding Day

This card took some thinking due to the stipulations on Mo's Digital Challenge 19 - clean and simple, white or cream cardstock, image, 1 ribbon, no layers.  I do like the elegance of it though and thought it best suited the bride and groom image that I had.  I used the colors to inspire me from Cupcake Inspiration Challenge 47 - cream, grey, pink and blue.  I used the cream, pink and blue all with the bride and the grey with the groom, my greeting and the ribbon.

Stamps - bride and groom - Mo's Digital Pencil Too, Sincere Salutations - SU
Paper:  Whisper White
Ink:  Basic Grey
Accessories:  ribbon, With Love embossing borders - Cuttlebug and copics

Copics:
Flesh E51, E53
Groom's Hair E33, E35
Tuxedo C5, 100
Dress E00, RV10, B00, G00
Bride's Hair Y11, Y02

Not my norm

Well I just spent a wonderful evening with a bunch of fairies, prairie fairies that is, including the queen fairy.  I was fortunate enough to spend time with all of the honorary fairies, Corry, Lori P and our queen fairy, Roberta.  We had to fit it in before Corry has her baby (due date Feb 28).

I wanted to use this cute image from Crafters Companion for my Friday Sketchers Challenge 90.  Then it was too big for my normal 4.25 x 5.5" cards, so Corry was gracious enough to give me a 5.5 x 5.5 piece of paper and it worked beautifully.  I used a punch and emboss corner punch for the corners of the image and rubbed it with metallic rub ons to better show the embossing.  I thought I would qualify for the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge 46 as I used brown, pink, flowers and a butterfly as well but I missed the deadline by a little.  I am lucky enough to qualify for Your Next Stamp Challenge 10 - spring colours and A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 91 - Spring is in the Air.
